My tentative Wppi schedule!

WPPI is still a few days away and I’m already exhausted! For the last few days I’ve been pouring over the class schedule, party invites, photog shootouts … and trying to figure out who to see, which classes to attend, Yikes! Think about this. 4 Time slots per day, 4 Days and over 50 Speakers … that gives you an average of 3.125 speakers to choose from for each Platform Class!!!

I also read to survive WPPI you must drink lots of water to stay hydrated and get at least 4 hours sleep a night. What? Only 4 hours? I’ll be a goner as I can’t go beyond 9pm so this is going to be really, really tough on me. Here’s a breakdown of what’s in store for us. Keep in mind this is our tentative schedule and we’re going to wing it and go with the flow. When in Rome, do like the Romans, hey.

Saturday March 6th:

  • Leave Vancouver early and arrive in Vegas baby!
  • Enjoy a few hours downtime before all the craziness starts
  • Meet up with FB friends for drinks and dinner (then get some early zzzzzzzzz’s, maybe)

Sunday March 7th:

  • 12:00 – 2:00 Joe Photo Workshop (sneak out early for LVGC shoot)
  • 2:00 – 7:00pm Bridal Shoot with Laura Marchbanks & friends at the Las Vegas Golf Club
  • 6:00 – 7:30pm Keynote Speaker Gregory Heisler
  • 7:00 – 7:30pm Squeeze in a fab dinner with some amazing photographers
  • 7:30 – 9:00pm WPPI Welcome Reception

Monday March 8th:

  • 8:00 – 10:00am Bruce Dorn & HD Video
  • 10:30 – 3:00pm Tradeshow
  • 3:30 – 5:30pm Jared Bauman or Jim Garner (sneak out early for TTD shoot)
  • 4:00 – 6:00 TTD Photoshoot on the Strip with Melissa Diep
  • 6:30 – 8:30pm Jasmine Star or Kevin Kubota or Blake Discher
  • 9:00 – 11:00pm Mike Colon & Jim Davis Hicks – Profit & Purpose
  • 8:30 – 10:00pm Pool Party

Tuesday March 9th:

  • 8:00-10:00am Louis Pang or John Michael Cooper
  • 10:30 – 2pm Tradeshow (or maybe catching up on zzzzz’s ;)  
  • 2:30 – 5:30pm Justin & Mary Marantz or Yervant
  • 8:00 – 10:00pm Kodak Event

Wednesday March 10th:

  • 8:00 – 10:00am Blair Phillips or Pete Wright
  • 2:30 – 4:30pm Rick Ferro
  • 2:30 – 4:00pm Photog Shootout with Rob Ninja in Old Vegas
  • 6:30pm Another awesome dinner with some talented photographers from all over the world
  • 8:00 – 10:00pm Awards Ceremony
  • 10:00pm till late – FF Fab Party at Robert Lim’s Suite

Thursday March 11th:

  • 9:00 – 11:00am Kevin Kubota Ignite Presentations
  • 2:30 – 4:00pm Possible photoshoot on the Strip (????)
  • Early dinner and then it’s catch up time with some zzzzzz’s

Friday  March 121th & Saturday March 13:

Starting with a late breakfast, we intend to take the next 2 days and soak up everyhing Vegas has to offer like typical tourists. Some sightseeing, some gambling, some shopping, perhaps a show or 2. We’ll keep you posted on our adventures in Vegas, but remember … what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!!

Baby Aarav

a Few weeks ago I was blessed to be introduced to baby Aarav. As I’m sitting here posting this blog this little cutie pie is making me smile. He has these huge bright eyes and a smile that melts hearts.  He is adorable and you can see he shares such a deep bond with his parents. This little guy was so happy and was so fun to photograph.

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s I’ll be up to while in Vegas.

I’m so excited to be doing a bridal shootout with Laura Marchbanks at the Las Vegas Country Club. Not only will I get to network with some fab photogs and build my portfolio, but I’ll be granted the awesome opportunity to fundraise for a wonderful cause. I’ll be able to give back, to give hope and to help in some small way in granting a wish to a child that dreams big.  What does it feel like to realize together we CAN make a difference, together we CAN move mountains and that there is nothing we can’t accomplish! It must be kryptonite indeed! The Portrait House has a list of ongoing projects, from building houses with the Habitat for Humanity and also helping the Make a Wish Foundation grant childrens wishes.

For the past few weeks I’ve been debating whether to attend WPPI’s – the Wedding Portrait Photographers International tradeshow – annual tradeshow & conventio held at the MGM Grand. This year it’s taking place from from March 4-11, 2010. Considering I’ve been in business for over 5 years and never attended, don’t you think that’s so lame? Yeah. So this year is IT! I feel it’s necessary to network with other photographers, meet vendors I work with, see and experience what’s new and exciting out there and show up to each and every class with my a-game and absorb as much as I humanly can. Attending WPPI will take my career to the next level and offer unimaginable inspiration & motivation.  And the icing on the cake? Imagine hooking up with some great photographers and going on photowalks and shootsouts in Vegas. Imaging a bridal shoot at the Las Vegas Country Club or a hip Trash the Dress with the awesome Melissa Diep? Absolutely radical!

I’m looking foward to meeting SO many great photographers and reconnecting with old friends again. I want to meet all the greats who make our photography industry rock, who selflessly give back to their community and share and help young upcoming photographers grow – from the incredible Lawrence (Tofurious) and David Jay, to [b]ecker, John Michael Cooper, Jasmine Star, Mike Colon, Bob & Dawn Davis, David Beckstead, Jerry Ghionis, Keving Kubota, Dane Sanders, Melissa Jill, Kenny Kim, Yervant, Jose Villa, … ah, I’m out of breath, the list goes on and on and on …

Calling all soon-to-be Parents!

I’m thrilled & excited to begin work on a few projects early 2010. One of my first projects is putting out a casting call to all local soon-to-be parents.  I have big dreams for this project!!What: I’m looking for newborn babies between 2 to 3 weeks of age.  Where:  I plan to photograph on location in the parents’ home and in exchange you will receive your newborn session FREE of charge. Ringing in the new year with a new look!

After a 1-on-1 training session with the phenomenally talented photographer Jamie Delaine back in October, 2009, it became clear that my BRANDING needed some attention. That became the starting point of many new & fresh ideas for my business: both short and long term. This not only involved changes to my business but also to my life and personal goals. I felt so energized & refreshed and even though I knew many changes & hard work lay ahead, I saw it as an exciting adventure and I couldn’t wait to tackle my to-do list.

Top priorities were a brand new blog and a new website and I’m super excited to show you the final product. By using Showit +Sites I was able to design a website that is sleek, modern and fresh. Weddings at Cecil Green House

I’m honoured to be a service provider for the beautiful Cecil Green Park, the “House on the Cliff”.

It offers a splendid, incomparable setting for weddings as it is situated high on the cliffs of Point Grey, with magnificent panoramic views that sweep north to Howe Sound and across to the Straight of Georgia.
